April 24th to 26th Ottawa, Canada Tournament The Connecticut Wolf Pack Sled Hockey team defeated number 1 seeded Kitchener Waterloo Sidewinders of Ontario, Canada by score of 5 to 0 in the Championship Game to win the "A" Division Ottawa Invitational Sledge Hockey Tournament in Ottawa on April 26th. In the Championship games the scoring was led by Ryan Pelletier of Columbia 4 goals and Anthony Kuntz of West Hartford had one goal and 4 assists. Mike Messier of Simsbury provided a stellar goal tending effort in shutting out the K-W Sidewinders. The victory in the Championship game followed an early tournament loss in a Friday evening game (4 to 3) (after a 10 hour bus ride) and two dominating wins on Saturday (6 to 1 and 7 to 2). Scoring in these games included a hat trick by Tyler Konvent in the 6 to 1 win and 5 goals and an assist by Ryan Pelletier with a goal and four assists from Anthony Kuntz in the 7-2 win. Marty Kenniston got into the act with the first goal of his career and Josh Buglione contributed an assist. All of the games had the Wolf Pack providing a stellar defense anchored by Bobby Jenner, Erica Mitchell and Colleen Rock. The defense also contributed goals and assists during the tournament. Sam Cohen and Lauren Moynihan provided many minutes of active play in relief. Please join me in congratulating all of our players and coach Pat Carney on an outstanding effort! |
